Neutron as a Settlement Layer for Rollups

Sponsor development that makes Neutron a more appealing settlement layer for rollups. The RFP should not sponsor the migration of smart-contract dApps to rollups, but it may be used to bring rollup projects planning to settle to other networks to settle on Neutron instead.

How will this Core RFP add value to Neutron and the Interchain?

  • It is increasingly clear that the Modular scaling strategy is one of the most viable approaches to scaling blockchains and increasing bandwidth across the Interchain. With the launch of Celestia as the Interchain’s default data availability layer, there is a gap for a default settlement layer with a trust-minimized bridge. This Core RFP aims to fund solutions that will position Neutron as this solution.

What are the Criteria for this Core RFP?

  • A technically capable team that has proven development and research expertise in the Rollup and Modular ecosystem who is able to define a roadmap for Neutron as a Rollup settlement layer and implement this vision.

How will the NGP measure progress for submissions for this Core RFP?

  • The key deliverable is providing the work to allow developers to deploy Rollups with Neutron as the settlement layer — using one of the various frameworks for building an execution layer using either fault or validity proofs.
